AltonGuitar tuition
Mike began to realise through his childcare training and experience along with his personal experiences of learning that we are all very individual in the way we take on information. Some people learn academically some pictorially and others by demonstration/practically. For some people colour is the best memory aid, for others, sound. Some have natural rhythm, some haven't.  Mike sees it as his responsibility to his students to discover their most effective way of learning. To this end he utilises various models of learning assessment including Kolbs and Flemings
(see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Learning_styles)
Mike can teach you in all styles including, Acoustic (strum and finger picking) Electric (rhythm and lead) and Bass. Mike teaches both right and left handed players

You will learn chords, scales, lead licks, song composition, rhythm's.
You will also learn Tablature which is an easy notation method of reading and writing guitar music although Mike also focuses on development of the 'ear' as he believes it to be essential that a musician can hear if a tune is in key/pitch etc and can develop an instinct for the right chords, lead licks etc.

Mike strongly believes that the most effective method of teaching is to make the lessons interesting by concentrating on actual songs/tunes rather than pure exercise and theory and to this end the first introductory lesson is spent getting to know the student and their likes/dislikes in order that a lesson plan is developed based upon their preferred genre.
